Hydlar Grades

Hydlar® is a high-performance composite material made by blending nylon (typically Nylon 6/6) with aramid fibers. This combination results in a material that exhibits enhanced mechanical properties compared to standard nylon, making it suitable for a variety of demanding industrial applications. It is commonly used in the automotive, industrial machine, aerospace, marine, textile, and packaging equipment industries.

Hydlar Features:

  • High strength and stiffness
  • Excellent wear resistance
  • Low coefficient of friction
  • Impact resistance
  • Dimensional stability
  • Chemical resistance

Z

Hydlar® Z is an innovative composite that blends Nylon 6/6 with Kevlar® fibres, creating a material with robust durability and substantial wear resistance, far surpassing that of unfilled nylon. This material excels in applications such as bushings, gears, and structural wear components, where resistance to impact and abrasion is critical. However, it's important to note that this hardy material isn't suitable for environments involving food contact.

ZT

Building on the strength of Hydlar® Z, Hydlar® ZT introduces a minimal amount of PTFE into the Kevlar-reinforced nylon matrix. This enhancement results in a smooth, self-lubricating surface that significantly reduces friction. It is ideal for applications involving continuous motion or where silent operation and decreased wear are essential, such as in sliding or bearing components.

ZELUX M

Hydlar® ZM takes the base formula of Hydlar® Z and incorporates molybdenum disulfide (MoS₂), resulting in notably increased surface hardness and load-strength. This formulation thrives in high-stress environments and is often selected for high-load bushings, pads, and wear plates. It is particularly valued for its mechanical stability and superior wear resistance in demanding applications.

Hydlar ZF Kevlar

At the pinnacle of the Hydlar® series, Hydlar® ZF is reinforced with Kevlar® within a PEEK matrix. This combination delivers outstanding strength, chemical resistance, and the ability to withstand high temperatures. Hydlar® ZF is extensively used in aerospace, defence, and other high-temperature industrial systems where top-tier mechanical performance and thermal stability are crucial.
