Phenolic Grades

Phenolic resins, also known as phenol-formaldehyde resins, are a versatile group of synthetic polymers derived from the reaction between phenol (a hydroxyaromatic compound) and formaldehyde (a simple organic compound). These resins are notable for their exceptional thermal stability, mechanical strength, and resistance to chemicals.

Features and Benefits of Phenolic:

  • Thermal stability
  • Mechanical strength
  • Chemical resistance
  • Dimensional stability
  • Fire resistance
  • Electrical insulation
  • Low smoke emission
  • Impact resistant
  • Corrosion resistant

Canvas CE

Canvas CE is an electrical-grade phenolic laminate reinforced with woven cotton fabric. It offers excellent dimensional stability, rigidity, and machinability, making it well-suited for insulators, spacers, and structural parts in switchgear and industrial control systems across Canada.

Shapes Offered

Canvas C

Canvas C is a general-purpose phenolic grade that combines high strength with quiet operation. It’s commonly used in gears, rollers, and impact pads where noise reduction and spark resistance are needed — including explosive or flammable environments.

Shapes Offered

CANVAS GRAPHITE

Formulated with embedded graphite for dry lubrication, Canvas Graphite performs in sliding, high-friction applications like bushings and wear surfaces. It runs quieter than metal and is less abrasive than glass-reinforced materials, ideal for OEM and retrofit parts in forestry, mining, and manufacturing.

Shapes Offered

G10

G10 is a fiberglass-reinforced epoxy laminate offering high mechanical strength and excellent electrical insulation. It's used in terminal blocks, circuit boards, and structural spacers exposed to vibration and humidity — ideal for industrial automation and Canadian power panels.

Shapes Offered

G10/FR4

G10/FR4 is a flame-rated epoxy laminate that combines structural integrity with electrical reliability. It resists thermal cycling and moisture, making it suitable for PCBs, control panels, and high-voltage applications exposed to Canadian freeze-thaw cycles.

Shapes Offered

G11

G11 is a high-temperature fiberglass epoxy laminate that maintains over 50% of its strength above 300°F (150°C). It’s used in furnace-rated insulation, busbar supports, and components in power distribution where prolonged heat exposure is expected.

Shapes Offered

G11/FR5

G11/FR5 builds on the strength of G11 with added flame resistance. It performs in both dry and humid conditions and is specified in utility-grade components like arc chutes, switchboards, and insulators used in substations and electric transit systems.

Shapes Offered

G7

G7 is a silicone-based laminate designed for arc resistance and thermal stability beyond 500°F (260°C). It's used in switchgear, motor housings, and high-voltage barriers where both heat resistance and dielectric strength are mission-critical.

Shapes Offered

G9

G9 is a melamine-reinforced phenolic laminate with superior arc, heat, and alkaline resistance. It’s used in wet electrical environments such as motor end plates, arc barriers, and marine-grade switchgear across Canada's coastal and offshore sectors.

Shapes Offered

Linen

Linen phenolic offers a fine fabric weave for parts requiring smooth finishes and high machinability. It's ideal for precision electrical parts, small bushings, and low-friction components in automation and electronic control assemblies.

Shapes Offered

Linen Electrical

LE combines the fine machining characteristics of linen phenolic with electrical-grade performance. It’s selected for insulators, switch plates, and spacers in medium-voltage applications, where high dielectric strength and dimensional control are critical.

Shapes Offered

XX

Grade XX is a paper-based phenolic sheet known for good machinability and excellent electrical insulating properties. It's used for jigs, mounting panels, and backplates in electrical testing and fixture tooling.

Shapes Offered

XXX

XXX Paper Phenolic provides better electrical properties and mechanical strength than XX, especially in humid environments. It’s often found in switch bases, circuit insulation, and radio frequency panels for telecommunications and instrumentation.
