Teflon™ PTFE Grades

Teflon™ PTFE (Polytetrafluoroethylene) is a synthetic fluoropolymer derived from tetrafluoroethylene. This high-performance material is valued for its exceptional non-stick capabilities, resistance to chemicals, and ability to withstand extreme temperatures. PTFE is inert to a wide array of chemicals, highly corrosion-resistant, and operates effectively within a temperature range spanning from -200°C to +260°C (-328°F to +500°F).

Teflon™ PTFE is often used as a gasket material or in packaging for chemical processing equipment. The mechanical properties combined with its extreme slipperiness make it ideal for non-stick coatings for cookware, bearings, seals, and piston rings in mechanical applications. Additionally, Teflon™ PTFE is weather resistant, flexible, and non-flammable.

Features and Benefits of Teflon™ PTFE

  • Lowest coefficient of friction
  • Electrical and insulation properties
  • Non-reactive to most chemicals
  • Corrosion and impact resistance
  • Chemically inert
  • Non-flammable and resistant to high temperatures
  • Wide operating temperature range from -200°C to +260°C (-328°F to +500°F)

Jump to a specific grade

Virgin

This is the pure, unmodified form of PTFE offering outstanding chemical resistance, high-temperature performance (up to 260°C), and a very low coefficient of friction. It’s widely used in gaskets, seals, and linings for aggressive environments.

Shapes Offered

GF15–25

Glass fibers are added to improve dimensional stability, wear resistance, and compressive strength. Common in structural and electrical insulation components where creep and deformation must be minimized.

Shapes Offered

CF15–35

Carbon fillers enhance thermal conductivity and wear resistance while maintaining anti-static properties. This grade is preferred in dynamic applications like piston rings and slide bearings.

Shapes Offered

GR15

Offers a balance between thermal conductivity, lubricity, and chemical resistance. Used in high-speed, high-load applications with continuous sliding or oscillating movement.

Shapes Offered

BR40

Provides improved wear resistance and higher thermal conductivity but reduces chemical resistance. Used in high-load bearing applications like bushings and thrust washers.

Shapes Offered

PIG

Colorant added for visual identification in food or pharmaceutical applications. Properties remain similar to virgin PTFE but may include FDA-compliant additives.

Shapes Offered

ETCH

Etched surfaces allow for bonding to metals or other materials. Used in tank linings, diaphragms, or laminated parts that require chemical resistance.
