Acrylique Grades

thyssenkrupp Materials NA Canada stocks inventory of acrylic materials including cast and extruded acrylic sheet, acrylic rod, and acrylic tube. We have the right acrylic for a variety of needs, from display and signage to museum and framing applications to industrial manufacturing operations.

Acrylic materials are not affected by direct sunlight, so they will age well and maintain their stability under many environmental circumstances, including heat, cold, and moisture.

We offer acrylic sheets, acrylic rods, and acrylic tubes in clear, matte (satin ice), non-glare, and mirror finishes, as well as a wide range of opaque and translucent colors. A variety of coatings are available for application-specific needs.

If optical clarity is most important, cast acrylic provides optimum clarity and excellent light transmission along with good weathering ability. Our acrylic materials are available with special coatings to protect against UV rays and scratching. Acrylic is known for its durability, as it does not warp, craze, crack, or corrode.

Attributes of Acrylic

  • Available in cast or extruded
  • Wide range of colors
  • Dimensionally stable
  • Easy to machine
  • Easy to fabricate and thermoform
  • Less than half the weight of glass
  • Shatter resistant
  • Weather resistant and non-yellowing

Acrylic is noted for being easy to fabricate and machine. It is also often used in the museum and framing industries to replace glass. Acrylic sheet weigh less than half what glass of equivalent dimensions does, and unlike glass, acrylic plastic will not shatter.

For industrial and other, similar applications, acrylic offers good dielectric properties and good tensile strength.

Acrylic Applications
The possibilities of creating with acrylic shapes are vast. Common applications for acrylic sheet, acrylic rod, and acrylic tube include:

  • Display boxes
  • Signage
  • Architectural glazing
  • Skylights
  • Clear exterior structures
  • Light lenses
  • Back lit buttons, dials, or knobs

Abrasion Resistant 1 side

For high-traffic environments where surfaces are constantly touched or cleaned, Abrasion-Resistant Acrylic 1 (ABRES1S) provides scratch resistance without compromising clarity. It’s a common choice for retail displays, public transportation windows, and protective shields, where long-lasting durability matters.

Shapes Offered

Abrasion Resistant 2 sides

Offering even stronger scratch and impact protection than ABRES1S, Abrasion-Resistant Acrylic 2 (ABRES2S) is designed for machine guards, industrial safety barriers, and high-wear enclosures. It gives an added resilience against physical stress, making it great for heavy-use applications that require both visibility and toughness.

Shapes Offered

ESD AC350

For electronics and cleanroom environments, static buildup can lead to damage. This acrylic grade prevents electrostatic discharge (ESD) while maintaining lightweight durability, making it a preferred material for equipment covers, control panels, and lab enclosures.

Shapes Offered

IMPACT MODIFIED

For high-impact applications, this grade provides up to 30 times the impact resistance of standard acrylic. It’s widely used in skylights, doors, protective panels, and retail displays, where shatter resistance and long-term durability are priorities.

Shapes Offered

LIGHTING

This acrylic is specially designed for light diffusion, making it a key material in signage, backlit displays, and architectural lighting. It enhances color brightness and uniformity, ensuring that retail and commercial displays stand out.

Shapes Offered

Mirror

This lightweight, shatter-resistant alternative to glass mirrors is used in decorative displays, interior design, retail environments, and fitness studios. It’s easy to cut, shape, and install, offering a safer and more durable alternative to traditional glass mirrors.

Shapes Offered

NON GLARE

For museum displays, framed artwork, and signage, reflections can be distracting. Non-glare acrylic reduces unwanted reflections while maintaining sharp clarity, ensuring that text and images stay visible under bright lighting.

Shapes Offered

Optical Grade

Precision optical components require crystal-clear clarity with minimal distortion. Optical-grade acrylic is used in medical equipment, display panels, scientific instruments, and lenses, where visual accuracy is critical.

Shapes Offered

PFG UVF

UV exposure can cause materials to fade and weaken over time. PFG UVF acrylic is formulated to filter up to 98% of harmful UV rays, making it a great choice for museum displays, framed artwork, and outdoor installations where UV protection is required.

Shapes Offered

UF-96

Designed for maximum UV resistance, UF-96 acrylic offers long-term protection against fading, yellowing, and material breakdown. It’s commonly used in archival document preservation, high-end window glazing, and outdoor signage, where clarity and UV protection are both priorities.

Shapes Offered

UVF

This acrylic grade blocks up to 98% of UV rays, ensuring that sensitive items, artwork, and displays remain protected from sun damage and fading. Ideal for museums, framed artwork, and specialty signage, UVF acrylic combines clarity with long-term preservation properties.
